Texas Panhandle Chase - 1 Tornado, Awesome Lightning
Tour Type: Tour 5
Chase Date: 2007 MAY 23
Target Area: Texas Panhandle (Wolf Creek, Limpscomb area)
Images: 14
I'll add a more detailed chase description at a later time because I'm running low on time and I want to get this entry into the chase logs...so check back. The target and storm locations for the day was the eastern Texas Panhandle. The short version - 4 storms, 1 tornado and one of the most electrified anvils after dark that I have ever seen! Enjoy the photos.
NOTE: I was unable to capture a quality still photograph of the tornado with my Nikon due to how quickly it happened and the amount of time it takes me to get to my camera when I don't have it at the ready. However, our tour customers did get video of the tornado and we will be posting that video on this chase log as soon as I get the video. I will also say that this was one of the "neatest" short-lived tornadoes that I have ever seen...it sort of looked like a "dancing rope" and touched down just beside our viewing spot along the highway.
